This special edition book cover design for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was specifically crafted for girls aged 6-13. During my research, I noticed that existing covers predominantly featured Alice herself or Alice alongside other characters. Wanting to delve deeper into the book’s themes of self-discovery and reflection, I opted to center the design around the “looking glass” mirror motif, symbolizing both Alice’s journey and the reader’s introspection as they engage with the story.
Within the mirror, intricate details depict elements from the book, including cards, a watch, a heart representing the queen, and a key. On the back cover, I strategically placed quotes from various characters, aligning them with the overarching theme of self-discovery and reflection. The color purple, known for stimulating imagination in children, was chosen to enhance the design and tie the overall aesthetic together seamlessly.
To further enrich the book’s interior, illustrations were provided by my talented niece, Payton Savage, adding a personal touch to the visual storytelling experience.
